Science, between Spain and Spanish America

Written within the framework of a CEHIC project in 2003 funded by the FECYT, this book reviews the scientific exchanges between Spain and Spanish America and the historians devoted to studying them. It is a popularization text that covers varied aspects such as institutional cooperation, joint publications and student exchanges. The book also analyzes the role of Spanish as a vehicle of scientific communication, and offers an overview of scientific exchange in both sides of the Atlantic Ocean since the seventeenth century, although it is focused on the twentieth century.

Symmetries in Physics (1600-1980)

In 1983 the First International Meeting on the History of Scientific Ideas took place at Sant Feliu de Guíxols, Barcelona. The proceedings of that conferences were published in 1987 by the Seminar for the History of Science entitled Symmetries in Physics (1600-1980) and edited by M. García Doncel -director of the Seminar-, A. Hermann; L. Michel and A. Pais. The presence of a number of foreign historians at this conference was a determining factor for the creation of the Seminar itself that same year of 1983.
