The rise of quantum physics in the first decades of the 20th century challenged our understanding of matter at the most fundamental level. From the classical point of view, the principles of the new physics were revolutionary and had an epistemological dimension. Political and social considerations played a role in their assimilation in different countries. This essay aims to analyse the introduction of quantum ideas in Franco's Spain between 1939 and 1965. Did the regime’s hegemonic discourse, nationalcatholicism, shape the appropriation of quantum physics? We have studied the meanings that were given to the theory's postulates, and tried to discern political, social, and religious relations. To this end we have examined the presentation of the quantum postulates in a number of religious and scientific journals, as well as in the first Spanish textbooks on quantum physics.
