This paper is about the notes of a PhD course on stellar evolution and black holes by Dr. Pere Pascual, professor in theoretical physics at the University of Barcelona, dedicated to research in quantum field theory. At the end of his life change the academic research to general relativity with quantum mechanics. The aim of this paper is explain why a scientist, witch a long professional trajectory in particle physics, include in his field of research and teaching the theory of general relativity, with applications in astrophysics. The answer lies in the way that how explains the final stages of stellar evolution and the formation of black holes. Is necessary the connection between general relativity and quantum mechanics to solve the mysteries of the new stellar objects such as white dwarfs, neutron stars, quasars and black holes. Finally we will see how this new relationship gives the beginning to the new theory of quantum gravity.
